Sean Barry pitched one-run ball for 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday and SBCC took advantage of five errors to score four unearned runs in a 5-2 nonconference win at Riverside.

The Vaqueros, ranked No. 5 in Southern Cal, improved to 21-6 with their third straight win and ninth in 10 games. No. 6 Riverside, which competes in the Orange Empire Conference, fell to 18-9.

SBCC took a 3-1 lead in the second with three unearned runs. Matt Gimenez had an RBI double and Spencer Erdman followed with a two-run double to right center. The Vaqueros stretched the lead to 4-1 in the fifth when Peyton Milone and Jimmy Brakka singled, then pulled off a double steal with Milone scoring from third.

Riverside scored in the eighth and the Vaqueros got their last run in the ninth on a one-out single by Brandon Evans.

Barry (5-2) allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Barry lowered his earned-run average to 1.49 and the Vaquero staff is third in the state at 2.04.

Jake Keily, the fourth Vaquero pitcher, got his second save after giving up a walk and single in the ninth. He capped the win by striking out Israel Fuentes.

The Vaqueros will play their third game in four days on Friday when they take on Reedley at Bakersfield College at 2:30 p.m.
