Vaqueros are third in WSC No. 2 at Alisal Ranch

SBCC took third on its home course Monday in WSC No. 2 men's golf action at Alisal Ranch in Solvang.

Canyons won for the second straight week with a 375. Ventura was second at 386, one stroke ahead of the Vaqueros in the eight-team field.

Santa Barbara's Jackie Chan tied for fourth with a 2-over 74. Alec Constantinides shot 75 and Felix Mory carded a 78. Ed Fiszel of Canyons was the medalist at 71.

"I expected us to play better," said coach Chuck Melendez. "We played a lot better in practice on this course. Maybe we were a little excited about playing at home.

"I know we can play better. It's early and there's still a lot of golf to play."

SBCC travels to Bakersfield for WSC No. 3 on Monday at Rio Bravo CC.
