No. 2 Orange Coast tops Vaqueros in Regional opener, 3-1

Orange Coast dropped the first set on Friday night, then came alive to down SBCC 3-1 in a Southern Cal Regional men’s volleyball opener at Costa Mesa. The scores were 23-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-18.

No. 7 Vaqueros will open playoffs at No. 2 Orange Coast

SBCC was seeded No. 7 for the CCCAA State men’s volleyball tournament and will travel to No. 2 Orange Coast on Friday for a quarterfinal match at 6 p.m.

Vaqueros top Moorpark 3-1 to earn playoff berth

Kyle Skinner pounded 19 kills and Haward Gomes had 10 kills and 14 digs on Friday night at the Sports Pavilion as SBCC downed Moorpark 3-1 to earn a spot in the CCCAA men’s volleyball playoffs. The scores were 27-29, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.

No. 6 L.A. Pierce sweeps No. 7 Vaqueros to claim WSC title

L.A. Pierce swept SBCC 3-0 on Wednesday night to earn the WSC North men’s volleyball title in Woodland Hills.

Skinner, Lockhart spark No. 5 Vaqueros to 3-1 road win

Kyle Skinner and Blake Lockhart combined for 28 kills and a .426 hitting percentage on Friday as No. 5 SBCC topped Antelope Valley 3-1 in Lancaster. The scores were 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-20.

After playing 11 non conference opponents to start the season, the Santa Barbara City College men's volleyball team began their Western State Conference North schedule by sweeping Antelope Valley at home.

After falling in consecutive matchups to the top two teams in the state, Santa Barbara City College men's volleyball has bounced back and swept their second match in as many days, dropping Grossmont College at home, 3-0 at the SBCC Sports Pavilion Saturday afternoon.

#4 SBCC takes down Santiago Canyon with a 3-0 sweep

After falling to the top two teams in the CCCAA, Santa Barbara City College men's volleyball team got back to their winning ways as they swept Santiago Canyon on the road to move to 7-3 on the year.

Top-ranked Long Beach hit .556 and .400 in the first two sets on Friday night on the way to a 25-13, 25-17, 25-22 men’s volleyball sweep of No. 5 SBCC.

Backup setter leads No. 5 Vaqueros past No. 4 Corsairs, 3-2

Zack Mancha came off the bench to record 41 assists in his first college match on Wednesday night as No. 5 SBCC outlasted No. 4 Santa Monica 3-2 in a men's volleyball thriller at the Sports Pavilion. The scores were 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12.

Four outstanding Vaqueros are heading to four-year schools -- Kat Sheehy (UCSB), Kaylene Ureno (Cal St. Stanislaus), Kyle Skinner (Ohio State) and Vanessa Watkins (Cal St. Bakersfield).
Four Vaquero stars sign with four-year schools

Four SBCC student-athletes signed national letters-of-intent on Friday during a Signing Ceremony at the Sports Pavilion.

No. 6 Warriors hand No. 4 Vaqueros first loss, 3-1

Kyle Skinner and Haward Gomes combined for 38 kills on Friday night but it wasn’t enough to prevent SBCC’s first men’s volleyball loss of the season. No. 6 El Camino beat the visiting Vaqueros 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23).

Haward Gomes produced 10 kills, six digs and three blocks on Wednesday night, leading No. 4 SBCC to a 25-23, 25-14, 25-20 men’s volleyball sweep of L.A. Trade Tech.

No. 6 Vaqueros surprise No. 3 Fullerton 3-1

Sophomore outside hitter Haward Gomes had 14 kills and Cameron Fry blocked eight balls on Wednesday night as No. 6 SBCC upset No. 3 Fullerton 3-1. The scores were 25-19, 27-29, 25-20, 25-19.
