SBCC posted three wins and 16 season-best marks on Friday en route to a third-place finish in the WSC North women's track and field meet at Bakersfield College.

Bakersfield won the six-team competition with 209 points. Canyons was second at 129 and the Vaqueros totaled 97.

Jessica Escalante took the javelin with a toss of 35.61 meters and ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 100 relay team. Anyel Thomas got the other win with a season-best 5.08m in the long jump.

Juliette Alliaume was second in the high jump. Alyssa Garrett ran the 8th-best time in school history in the 400 (1:09.42) and Olivia Loy posted the 10th-best time in the 100 (12.71).

"After four consecutive competitions in a row, we had to rest a few of our top women in certain events, but we still had a good day," said coach Scott Fickerson. "Today was about competing tough, but living to fight another day. It's still real early in the season and we have a long ways to go and many great performances ahead."

The Vaqueros will compete in the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal St. Fullerton and the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday, March 13.
