Chavira takes 32nd in State Finals

Christy Chavira finished 32nd in the CCCAA Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday on a cool, clear day at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Chavira, a sophomore from Righetti High, ran 19:33 on the 5K course (3.1 miles). That's the fifth-fastest time by an SBCC runner on the course and 44 seconds faster than her time in the 2016 State Meet.

Alyssa Block of Sequoias completed an undefeated season with an easy individual win. She ran 17:43 to top a field of 161 runners. Brenda Rosales of L.A. Harbor was second in 18:12.

Mt. SAC won its ninth women's state title, edging Cuyamaca 93-95.
