For the second straight year, Brian Nnoli recorded his best triple jump on his sixth and final attempt on a rainy Saturday to capture third in the 69th annual CCCAA Men’s Track & Field State Championships at College of San Mateo.
With its postseason life on the line, SBCC rallied to shoot a season-best, even-par 360 in the second round on Monday and claim third place in the Southern Cal Regional men’s golf tournament at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.
Glendale got two strong pitching performances and its offense came alive on Saturday in a pair of baseball wins that ended SBCC’s season. Glendale won 16-2 to even the best-of-3 Southern Cal Regional series 1-1, then pulled out a 4-3 triumph in a tense rubber game.
Jacob Bravo belted a three-run homer to cap a five-run fourth inning on Friday and Patrick Caulfield went wild at the plate and on the bases as SBCC routed Glendale 10-4 in the opener of a best-of-3 Southern Cal Regional baseball series at Stengel Field.
Kelee Shimizu placed sixth in the 200 free on Friday afternoon and Hana Wigzell was seventh in the 400 IM as SBCC remained in ninth place after Day 2 of the CCCAA Women’s State Swimming & Diving Championships at De Anza College in Cupertino.
Mitch Wishnowsky, an all-state punter for SBCC in 2014 and a three-time All-American at Utah, was chosen in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. The Australian was the 110th overall pick.
