Six Beach Volleyball Players Earn All-WSC Honors, Medina/Rossi Pair of the Year
By Jimmy Friery
For Vaqueros Beach Volleyball, six players received WSC honors with 1s team Olivia Medina and Ashley Rossi being named Pair of the Year.
The Vaqueros 1s naturally were titled top WSC pair after winning the WSC Pairs championship tournament, going 11-1 in regular season conference matches. Medina/Rossi went on to win the SoCal Pairs Regional and advanced to the State Championship match. Their 35-3 overall record also resulted in them being AVCA Top Flight award winners.
Alexis Zevenbergen and Nevaeh Tillet were also named to the WSC 1st Team. The Vaqueros 2s had a phenomenal year, culminating in a State Pairs tournament berth. Tillet, her first year ever playing Beach, began the year on the 4s team. Working her way up, she finishes as a 1st Team conference player. Zevenbergen, too, earns the honor in just her second year of Beach.
Rounding out the six, Carolina Koceman and Celia Espinoza made 2nd Team All-WSC. Koceman was solid on the Vaqueros 3s team, ending her season just a few points from qualifying for the SoCal Pairs Regional with Charlotte Wilson after a 3-setter in the WSC Pairs round of 16.
Espinoza similarly had a great year with 4s teammate Carly Hanna, who held a 7-match win streak from February 16 to March 29.
