Wesley Ghan-Gibson was selected as Athlete of the Week by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table during Monday's press luncheon at Harry's Plaza Café.
The sophomore shortstop from San Marcos High went 5-5 with two RBIs and four runs in Wednesday's 12-5 win over Cerro Coso. He reached base in 10 straight at-bats over two games.
He was 6-13 (.462) in three games last week, raising his average to .325. The Vaqueros (9-7) went 4-0 for the week and have won five straight games in comeback fashion.
Ghan-Gibson didn't commit an error in 18 chances at shortstop, recording five putouts and 13 assists.
The Vaqueros open WSC North play on Tuesday when county rival Hancock comes to Pershing Park for a 2 p.m. contest.
