Bio

Justin is in his eighth season as Associate Head Coach / Pitching Coach.

He's molded the Vaquero pitching staff into a state powerhouse. The 2015 Vaqueros took fifth in the state for the second straight year and the pitchers fashioned the second-best ERA in the state at 2.21, setting a new school record in the process.

In 2014, he coached a pair of first-team All-WSC pitchers in Justin Bruce and Kit Larson. Larson completed a rare trifecta by being named All-Southern Cal, All-American and All-State Academically.

In the summer of 2014, Justin was the pitching coach for the Santa Barbara Foresters, who captured their fifth NBC (National Baseball Congress) World Series title in Wichita, Kansas.

Aspegren graduated from UCSB where he was part of the Gauchos pitching staff for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He was a two-year starter as a starting pitcher and utility player at SBCC and helped lead the 2005 squad to the playoffs for the first time since 1978. Justin was part of a pitching staff that led the State in ERA in 2005. He compiled 13 wins over two years at SBCC, earning All-Conference honors twice.

Justin will handle the pitching staff and assist with recruiting. He's coached four WSC Pitchers of the Year -- Bryce Uhrig (2008), Zak Edgington (2010), Chris Joyce (2011) and Tyler Gilbert (2013). Joyce was the Southern Cal Pitcher of the Year and the Cincinnati Reds chose him in the 19th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Kylin Turnbull, a left-hander on the 2011 WSC Championship squad, was a fourth-round pick of the Washington Nationals.

A native of Napa, Aspegren attended Justin-Siena High School.
