Santa Barbara City College's football team fell to Fullerton 38-0 at their first home game of the season on Saturday night.
The Vaqueros attempted to make a move in the first half, making it into Fullerton territory on their first two drives. Though they made it into Fullerton's territory, they failed to score on these drives.
"I was very proud of how hard the Vaqs played on both sides of the ball. Fullerton is a very good team and our guys fought for 4 quarters," Coach Craig Moropoulos said.
Fullerton scored their first touchdown on a 31-yard pass, following a 37-yard pass. Fullerton's second touchdown of the night came from a 16-yard back shoulder pass.
The score at half came to 17-0.
Fullerton scored a touchdown on their first drive of the third quarter, bringing the score to 24-0. Another touchdown pass brought Fullerton to 31-0.
In the fourth quarter, The Vaqueros had an opportunity to score with 4th and 2 on the 9-yard line. A strip sack followed by a Fullerton recovery ended with a 76 yard fumble recovery touchdown, bringing the game to 38-0.
"Fullerton outperformed us, however we have come together as a team through some adversity and we are looking forward to bouncing back this Saturday at Saddleback," Defensive back Joey Mason said.
The Vaqueros will play against Saddleback at 6 p.m this Saturday.
