Exercise in Endurance: Vaqs Football Finishes Season
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The final game of the 2025 season for the Santa Barbara City College football team was a 40-20 loss against Santa Ana College at La Playa Stadium.
The Vaqueros finished the season without a victory for the first time since 2011.
It only took two seasons for SBCC to return to a winning record in 2013.
Throughout the season and the game, the team's resilience was obvious.
Brooks Trimmer scampered for a 48-yard touchdown on his first snap of the game. He also connected with Nate Jeter for a 31-yard touchdown pass.
Dyson Fields rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Jackson McPeak played defensive line throughout the game, collecting 3 tackles.
Kyle Rivas and Nelson Smith each recorded sacks, while Smith led the team in tackles with 10.
Luke McNeil intercepted a pass in the endzone, preventing a Santa Ana touchdown, and returned the pick 42 yards.
Receiver Quinn Donnell took on extra point kicking duties, converting on 2-of-3 attempts, and defensive lineman Carter Hubbard handled kickoffs.
Kicker and punter Jacob Riser was seen with one of his legs wrapped up, and he still hit a 51-yard punt.
Despite what the record might say, the Vaqueros battled every time they took the field. They never stopped giving their best effort and will use this experience to build a winning team in the near future.
