Muntari, Ruiz sign with UCSB, Fisher

A pair of midfielders from SBCC have received scholarships to continue their men’s soccer careers.

A pair of midfielders from SBCC have received scholarships to continue their men's soccer careers.

Ameyawu Muntari signed with UCSB and Pedro Ruiz is going to the East Coast to play for Fisher College.

Muntari, a sophomore from Ghana, led the Vaqueros in scoring last fall with eight goals and 22 points. He was a first-team All-WSC North selection. Ruiz, a sophomore from Santa Barbara High, is joining the Fisher Falcons, an NAIA team in Boston.

"I'm sure Peter and Ameyawu will both do well, both on the field and in the classroom and be ambassadors of our men's soccer program here at SBCC," said Vaquero coach John Sisterson. "Both played an attacking role and I'm sure they'll continue to do that with flair and enthusiasm."
