Vaqueros Sweep Moorpark on the Road

MOORPARK, Calif. – The Santa Barbara City College Men's Volleyball team (10-3, 4-1) swept Moorpark on the road on Wednesday night, staying atop the Northern Region standings and even further atop the Canyon division. The 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 victory is the Vaqueros' 10th of the young season—only undefeated Golden West and Orange Coast have more in the 3C2A.
The Vaqueros hit .443 as a team on the night, committing just eight attack errors. Moorpark had just one block and 21 digs across the three sets.
After just two attack errors in the first set (12-2-27), Santa Barbara had a lesser performance in the second (five attack errors) but still earned the same result—a 25-19 win. Their best set attack-wise was the third, clinching the match with 11 kills on just 24 swings on the way to a 25-20 victory.
Standout pin hitter Mykolas Petritias earned 13 kills on 23 swings, served two aces, dug six digs, and had three blocks. Charlie Coordt hit an errorless .400 (6-0-15) and also served two aces with six digs.
Middle blocker Nick Schultz had an efficient seven kills on 11 swings, leading the team with five blocks. With Luke Steinert out, Payton Martinez handled libero duties and led the team with 11 digs.
As always, Ayden Welch and Devon Russell facilitated the offense well. Welch had 22 assists to Russell's 17.
The Vaqueros are back at home on Friday against Antelope Valley (2-11, 1-3) with first serve set for 6 p.m.
