Men’s Volleyball Falls to Fullerton on the Road

FULLERTON, Calif. — The No. 3 Santa Barbara City College Men's Volleyball team (14-4, 8-2) dropped a close four-set match to No. 6 Fullerton (11-7, 7-3) on Thursday night, falling on the road in a tightly contested conference battle.
Mykolas Petritias led Santa Barbara with 24.5 points on 21 kills, two aces, and three block assists. Nick Schultz and Keegan Hubbard each added nine points, with Schultz recording six kills and four blocks and Hubbard contributing seven kills and three blocks. Ayden Welch led the team in both assists (28) and digs (nine).
The match was tightly contested throughout, with three of the four sets decided by narrow margins. Fullerton held off Santa Barbara 25-23 in the opening set before the Vaqueros responded with a 25-20 victory in the second to even the match. The Hornets regained control with a 25-21 win in the third and closed out the match with a 25-23 fourth-set victory. The Vaqueros hit .192 as a team, unable to overcome Fullerton in the four-set loss.
Santa Barbara travels to Long Beach on Wednesday, April 1, at 6 p.m. for their next conference matchup.
