Ramirez, Tarula lead Vaqueros to 15th in State Finals
Alex Ramirez placed 44th and Jose Tarula was 55th on Saturday as SBCC claimed 15th in the men’s cross country State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Alex Ramirez placed 44th and Jose Tarula was 55th on Saturday as SBCC claimed 15th in the men's cross country State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Ramirez, a sophomore from Buena High, covered the 4-mile course in 21:24 while Tarula, a sophomore from Bell Gardens, was three seconds behind in 21:27. Patrick Lownes-Santos took 101st (22:02), Marcus Dunkel was 136th (22:27) and Charles Perry was SBCC's fifth man in 153rd place (22:39).
The Vaqueros made their sixth straight trip to the State meet.
Riverside won the team title with 88 points and Glendale was second with 120. Cuesta's Sean McDermott claimed the individual crown in the 206-man race, clocking 20:06. He beat Luis Ortega of San Bernardino Valley by three seconds.
Santa Barbara was 15th with 457 points in the 28-team field.
