SANTA MARIA – The SBCC softball team was held scoreless in a five-inning loss at Allan Hancock on Tuesday.
The Vaqueros (7-17, 2-1) were outhit by the Bulldogs (11-7, 1-1) nine to three. Natalie Depasquale, Paige Powell and Alyssa Perez all hit singles.
However, Allan Hancock opened with a furious start offensively, scoring seven runs on four hits in the first inning. The home side added another run in the bottom of the fourth.
Paige Powell saw some time in the circle, picking up a strikeout and giving up no hits or walks for the Vaquero defense's final two outs.
