Three Vaqueros earn All-WSC honors

SBCC sophomore Andrea Morales was named to the first-team All-WSC North women's basketball squad with Darla Morales and Sylvia Hoover-Purter getting honorable mention.

Andrea Morales, a 5-7 guard from Pacifica High in Oxnard, was the 11th-leading scorer in the conference at 11.3 per game. She also averaged 5.7 rebounds. She started all 27 games and scored 10 or more 17 times. She posted a career-high 20 points on Dec. 13 vs. the Santa Maria All-Stars.

Darla Morales, a 5-7 sophomore who's the twin sister of Andrea, averaged 9.4 points and led the Vaqueros (11-16) in rebounds at 5.8. Her career-high was 21 points vs. Sequoias on Dec. 19. Darla was the fifth-leading free-throw shooter in the WSC North, knocking down 74.2 percent.

Hoover-Purter, a 5-4 sophomore from Santa Barbara High, also started in all 27 games, averaging 4.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

The Vaqueros finished strong, winning six of their last eight games to take fourth in the conference at 6-6.
