SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 9 seed Santa Barbara City College Women's Basketball team (21-7) will host No. 22 seed Fullerton in Rob Gym on Wednesday evening for a 3C2A First Round playoff matchup.
The Vaqueros will be confident. Not only do they have five All-Conference selections and the WSC North Coach of the Year, they have experience. The sophomores won last year's first round home matchup against Imperial Valley.
Even more so, Santa Barbara beat Fullerton earlier this year. Back on December 20, the Vaqueros used a strong third quarter to lift them to a 68-61 road win, albeit in a game with nine lead changes.
Kaylee Lawson's 22 points were crucial, as were Milan Jackson's 14 and Amarisse Camargo's 11. Jackson, Camargo, and Aariah Fox each had nine rebounds in an extremely competitive game.
To the diehard fans: Santa Barbara was administratively moved to the No. 10 seed, and Fullerton was administratively moved to the No. 23 seed so both avoid playing conference opponents in the First Round.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. The winner will then play at No. 7 seed Mt. San Jacinto later in the week.
