Ortega takes 7th in North-South Invitational

SBCC sophomore Saralisa Ortega placed seventh in the North-South Invitational women's golf tournament after shooting 83 in Monday's final round at Morro Bay Golf Course.

She finished 11 shots behind the medalists, Anna Bonilla of Butte and April Chang of Sierra, who shot the exact same scores (74-73) for a 3-over total of 147.

SBCC's score rose by 13 shots over Sunday's round and the Vaqueros placed ninth in the 17-team field at 691. College of the Desert won the title with rounds of 313 and 329 for a 642 total that was 13 strokes better than Sierra. Canyons placed third at 662.

Morro Bay GC will also be the site of the State Championships on Nov. 16-17.

Tiffany Huang posted the second-best score for the Vaqueros at 172 (85-87).

The Vaqueros return to conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in WSC No. 4 at San Dimas Canyon GC.
