Watkins, Carlson are 1st & 3rd; Vaqueros win 4th straight WSC tourney

Vanessa Watkins fired a 1-over 75 on Monday and Elly Carlson added a 78, leading SBCC to its fourth straight WSC women's golf tourney title at Crystalaire CC in Llano.

Watkins won her second medalist honor in WSC No. 4 and Carlson finished third for the Vaqueros, who totaled 324. They beat Canyons (343) by 19 shots. Moorpark was third at 352.

Watkins had two birdies and Carlson racked up four. Watkins has two firsts and two seconds in WSC matches.

"Vanessa and Elly were strong today," said coach Chuck Melendez. "We had never played this course and it was a little longer than we've seen. It was a long drive but we're happy to be here."

The Vaqueros, 46-1 overall, are first in the WSC race at 20-0. Canyons is second (16-4) and Moorpark moved into third (9-11).

SBCC returns to action on Wednesday in WSC No. 5 at San Dimas GC.
