Vaqueros fall to Fresno 8-1 in opener

Fresno City swept the singles on Tuesday and went on to defeat SBCC 8-1 in the Vaqueros' season-opening women's tennis match at Fresno.

"This was the first college match for all six of our players and there were some nerves to start but everyone fought hard the whole match," said coach Lance Kronberg.

Teresa Downey and Monica Kunz got the Vaqueros' point with a 9-7 win against a strong team at No. 1 doubles. Fresno improved to 3-0.

The Vaqueros will host Sequoias in their home opener on Saturday at 1 p.m.
