4 Vaqueros open play in State Championships on Thursday

Teresa Downey, SBCC’s No. 1 player, is seeded No. 13 for the CCCAA State Women’s Tennis Individual Championships, which will take place on April 24-27 at the 114th Ojai Tournament.

Teresa Downey, SBCC's No. 1 player, is seeded No. 13 for the CCCAA State Women's Tennis Individual Championships, which will take place on April 24-27 at the 114th Ojai Tournament.

She got a bye in the Round of 128 and will open on Thursday at Ventura College at 11 a.m. against the winner of Jasmine Catolico (Fullerton) and Candace Egen (Fresno).

Downey and Monica Kunz will start doubles play on Thursday at Buena High. They'll take on Lovely Butor-Stephanie Wee of De Anza at 1 p.m.

Another Vaquero doubles team, Gabriela McDaniel-Kenzie Usher, will battle Jerrica Cox-Alyssa Mendoza of Reedley in a 1 p.m. match at Buena High.
