Seeds drops tough 3-setter in Round of 32 at State Tourney

SBCC sophomore Maddie Seeds fell in the Round of 32 at the CCCAA State Women’s Tennis Championships on Friday, losing a tight three-setter to the No. 3 North seed, Joelle Huelse of Canada, at Buena High. The scores were 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.

Seeds edged in WSC semifinal, then falls in doubles final

No. 3 Maddie Seeds extended No. 2 Viktoriya Shumakova of Glendale to a super tiebreaker on Thursday before dropping a 7-6 (6), 1-6, (10-5) match in the WSC Tournament women’s tennis semifinals at Ventura College.

No. 1 Cerritos downs Vaqueros 6-1 in playoff opener

Cerritos took a 2-1 doubles lead on Tuesday, then won four of the first five singles to secure a 6-1 women’s tennis victory over SBCC in the opening round of the Southern Cal Team Regional in Norwalk.

Vaqueros seeded 7th for Southern Cal Regional

SBCC made the Southern Cal Regional women’s tennis team playoffs for the second straight year and they’ll face a familiar opponent in No. 1 Cerritos. The Falcons beat the Vaqueros in last year’s opening round of the playoffs, 5-2.

It was a great day for SBCC women’s tennis on Friday as three Vaqueros reached the singles quarterfinals and three doubles teams moved into the quarters on the first day of the WSC Tournament at Ventura College and Camino Real Park.
