No. 13 Vaqs Best No. 9 Pasadena City College
PASADENA, Calif. – The No. 13-ranked Santa Barbara City College women's volleyball team won its 13th consecutive set as it topped No. 9 Pasadena City College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-15) on Wednesday.
Stephanie Groswirt continued her versatile play, leading SBCC with 14 kills while adding seven assists and six digs.
Setter Morgan Guardado posted a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs while libero Valeria Bellodas recorded a game-high 17 digs.
The Vaqueros improved to 6-0 on the season with the victory, including their fourth consecutive sweep.
"It was a super fun match against our most competitive opponent yet," said head coach Kat Niksto. "We got off to a bit of a slower start, but didn't let it rattle us. Stephanie was an offensive force that couldn't be stopped, and we did a good job of serving and passing better than the other team."
Bayley Padia totaled 11 kills in the contest, upping her team lead on the season to 61.
"Bayley also had another solid night. As a co-captain and a six-rotation player," said Niksto. "Bayley's consistency so far this season has really been a stabilizing force for our team."
The Vaqs take on Clovis and Coalinga at Allan Hancock today. The team returns to Robertson Gym on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. to host Canyons.
