The Santa Barbara City College athletics department will be hosting the Second Annual Trunk or Treat event for children of Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara City College community on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018. The event will be held in the parking lot adjacent to La Playa Field on Loma Alta Drive from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
"As a community college, we feel it is very important to give back to the local community. We tried it out last year and it was even more fun than we expected. We are happy to organize it again this year," said Athletic Director Rocco Constantino.
The event is best described as a tailgate party mixed with Trick or Treating and is geared toward kids under the age of 13. Cars will be set up in the parking lot, decorated in Halloween themes. Kids can then go trick or treating at each car, much the same way they would go trick or treating door-to-door.
In addition to trick or treating at each car, there will also be other events and surprises geared toward kids in the community.
Once again, Outrageous Booths will be on hand to provide a free photo booth experience for all kids in attendance.
Admission to the event and all accompanying activities will be free of charge.
SBCC athletics is accepting candy or monetary donations as well to help offset the cost of operating this community event.
"We really believe that we have a great platform for community outreach as an athletics department," said Constantino. "Our goal is to provide families with a memorable experience while also teaching our student-athletes the value of community service."
The Trunk or Treat event will be held before Santa Barbara City College's home women's soccer game against Oxnard (7:30 p.m. kickoff) and kids in costume will receive free admission to the soccer game with their parents or guardians that night as well.
