Holton, Appleby sign with Creighton, Michigan

Jake Holton, an infielder/relief pitcher for SBCC, has accepted a scholarship to play for Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. David Appleby, a relief pitcher on the baseball team the last two years, will be attending the University of Michigan.

Mounties score eight in 8th to end Vaqueros’ season, 15-10

Mt. San Antonio erupted for eight runs on seven hits in the eighth inning on Saturday and went on to beat SBCC 15-10 in a Southern Cal Regional baseball slugfest at Mazmanian Field in Walnut.

Holton guides Vaqueros past Ventura 7-5 and into the playoffs

SBCC fell behind 4-0 in the first two innings on Thursday, then stormed back to beat Ventura 7-5 and earn a trip to the CCCAA baseball playoffs.

Provost powers Pirates over Vaqueros, 9-7

Cougars rally past Vaqueros, 7-6

Cuesta loaded the bases on three singles in the seventh, then scored on a bases-loaded walk to beat SBCC 7-6 in a WSC North baseball game in San Luis Obispo.

Holton does it again with 3-run HR and save in 11-9 comeback win

SBCC’s Jake Holton is getting used to wearing the hero’s cape. For the second time in four days, the sophomore from Los Gatos belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth and then pitched the ninth for a record-setting save in an 11-9 baseball win over Cuesta.

Holton wins SBART Athlete of the Week

Jake Holton was chosen as the Athlete of the Week on Monday during the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Café. The Athlete of the Week is given to the best player in all sports from the local high schools, UCSB, Westmont and SBCC.
