Whitford makes verbal commitment to Washington

SBCC continued its recent tradition of sending Australian punters to top NCAA football schools this week when Joel Whitford announced a verbal commitment to join the Washington Huskies in the Pac-12.

Linebacker Elisha Allen signed with the Glenville State Pioneers, who went 7-4 in NCAA Div. II last year.
12 Vaqueros heading to four-year schools

Elisha Allen is the latest member of the SBCC football team to sign with a four-year college or university. A dozen Vaqueros will play at the next level.

SBCC will hold its second annual Vaquero Youth Football Camp for three days on July 8-10 at La Playa Stadium.

Former SBCC football coach Carmen DiPoalo has been inducted into the California Community College Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He was honored during the 28th CCCFCA Spring Convention and Hall of Fame Luncheon on March 12 in Visalia.

SCFA announces league changes

SBCC's football league will have a new look for the 2016 and 2017 seasons with four teams leaving and two coming in, including county rival Allan Hancock.

Cuevas throws 4 TDs in thrilling 40-39 win

Quarterback Alexander Cuevas threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday, leading SBCC to a thrilling 40-39 comeback win in its football finale at Glendale.

No. 20 Corsairs run past Vaqueros, 37-21

Santa Monica piled 38 first downs and 620 total yards on Saturday in a 37-21 American Pacific League football win over SBCC at La Playa Stadium.

Blake Levin booted a 20-yard field goal in overtime on Saturday to lift SBCC over Antelope Valley 41-38 in a wild and crazy Halloween football game at La Playa Stadium.

Pierce tops Vaqueros 12-6 in defensive battle

The top two defenses in the American Pacific League squared off on Saturday night in Woodland Hills, so it figured that points would be hard to come by.

L.A. Valley edges Vaqueros 28-27

Football games are often decided by inches and that was the case on Saturday as L.A. Valley caromed a PAT off the goalpost and through with 3:07 remaining and SBCC misfired on a 28-yard field goal with 10 seconds to play. It added up to a 28-27 American Pacific League victory for the visiting Monarchs at La Playa Stadium.

Quick-strike Vaqueros sprint past Cougars, 48-10

SBCC needed less than 20 minutes of elapsed time to score seven touchdowns on Saturday night in a 48-10 football win at L.A. Southwest.

Vaqueros run over West L.A. 48-20 in APL opener

Deon Dickey ran for a career-high 152 yards on 14 carries and Chad Woolsey added 102 rushing yards on Saturday, leading SBCC to a 48-20 rout of West L.A. in the American Pacific League football opener for both schools.

Huskies edge Vaqueros 21-14 on late TD

East L.A. scored a touchdown on its first and last possession on Saturday to hand SBCC a 21-14 nonconference football defeat at La Playa Stadium.
