Ventura rides first-half spurt to 83-56 win over Vaqueros

Ventura went on a 15-2 run midway through the first half on Saturday night en route to an 83-56 win at SBCC that secured the Pirates’ second straight WSC North men’s basketball title.

Moorpark edges hot-shooting Vaqueros 87-85

Robert Hutchins and Chris Givens combined for 55 points and 13 3-pointers on Wednesday night but it wasn’t enough as Moorpark edged visiting SBCC 87-85 in a WSC North men’s basketball game.

Big second half carries Bulldogs over Vaqueros, 96-85

Marcellus Garrick and Kevawn Lord combined for 50 points on Saturday night, leading Hancock to a 96-85 men's basketball win over SBCC on “Coaches vs. Cancer Night” in the Sports Pavilion.

Freshman Drayten Howell matched his season high, scoring 15 points on 7-11 shooting, and dishing out six assists for the fourth straight game. Howell is shooting 53.2 percent in his last five games (25-47).
Hutchins tallies 22 in 80-76 win at Oxnard

Sophomore guard Robert Hutchins hit 5-10 from 3-point country and scored 22 points on Wednesday night as SBCC held off Oxnard 80-76 in a WSC North men’s basketball game.

Cuesta rallies for 86-77 win in double OT

Noah Saunders scored all 19 of his points in the second half and overtime on Saturday, including two game-tying shots at the end of regulation and the first overtime, as Cuesta rallied for an 86-77 men’s basketball win over SBCC in double overtime.

Ventura tops visiting Vaqueros 88-72

Vikings use fast start to topple Vaqueros, 83-66

Long Beach raced out to a 22-9 lead in a New Year’s Eve men’s basketball game and went on to defeat SBCC 83-66 at Westmont College. The game was played Saturday afternoon at Murchison Gym due to new bleachers being installed at SBCC’s Sports Pavilion.

Free throws are the difference in 76-67 loss to Rio Hondo

SBCC made more field goals and 3-pointers and grabbed more rebounds on Saturday evening but Rio Hondo was plus-13 on free throws in a 76-67 victory on the final day of the L.A. Southwest Intensity Classic.
