Manny Manzone fired a 3-under 69 on Monday and three SBCC teammates were also under par, guiding the Vaqueros to their second straight men’s golf victory. The Vaqueros shot a season-low of 3-under 357 to top the 18-team field in the prestigious Southern Cal Preview at Olivas Links GC in Ventura.
Brett Patton shot a season-best, 2-under 70 to earn medalist honors on Monday and Jonny Hogan was second at 71, leading SBCC to its first WSC men’s golf victory at River Ridge GC in Oxnard. Patton, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High, helped the Vaqueros to a one-stroke win (369-370) over previously unbeaten Canyons in WSC No. 4 on the Victoria Lakes Course.
The course was different on Monday but the results were the same for SBCC’s Jonny Hogan.
The calendar turned to March on Sunday and Jonny Hogan continued his red-hot play on the golf course.

Jonny Hogan fired a 3-under 69 on Wednesday and Brett Patton shot 1-under 71, leading SBCC to a third-place finish in the 16-team Eagle Golf Classic, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto at The Country Club at Soboba Springs.
Jonny Hogan shot even-par 72 to claim medalist honors in WSC No. 2 on Monday at the Alisal Ranch golf course in Solvang. Canyons edged SBCC for the team title, 374-377.
Chuck Melendez achieved a milestone on Monday when he notched the 500th Western State Conference victory of his men’s golf coaching career at SBCC. He actually surpassed it as the Vaqueros went 6-1 and took second in WSC No. 2 at their home course, Alisal Ranch, in Solvang. Melendez is 503-438-3 in his 15-year career.
