Carlos Espinoza fired in 35-yard screamer in the 80th minute on Friday, lifting SBCC over Santa Monica 1-0 and into a tie for second place in the final WSC North men’s soccer standings.

It was Sophomore Night at La Playa Stadium for (from left), Jelan Hutton, Nick Genthon, Callum Challinor, Yakop Dighzarian, Coach John Sisterson and goalies Shane Pitcock and Zac Gottlieb.

Jelan Hutton ended 268 minutes of frustration by heading in a cross from Carlos Espinoza in the 88th minute on Tuesday night as SBCC earned a 1-1 men’s soccer tie with Moorpark.

Callum Challinor had a pair of first-half goals on Friday afternoon and Jose Abitia tallied his first two college goals in the second half, leading SBCC to a 6-2 men’s soccer rout over Hancock in Santa Maria.
