Payovich throws huge PR in discus to take sixth in So Cal Finals

Skylar Payovich shattered his personal best in the discus by nearly nine feet on Saturday in the Southern Cal Men’s Track & Field Championships at Cerritos College but it wasn’t good enough for a spot in the State Championships.

Jones qualifies for So Cal Finals in shot put, javelin

Edward Jones qualified for the Southern Cal Championships in two field events on Saturday, leading the SBCC men’s track & field team at Cerritos College.

Shinn, Jones take second in WSC Finals; Vaqueros place seventh

Cameron Shinn was second in the triple jump at 14.11 meters and Edward Jones took second in the javelin at 46.88m on Friday, leading SBCC to seventh place in an 11-team field at the WSC Men’s Track & Field Championships at Moorpark College.

Edward Jones finished third in the WSC shot put finals to earn a spot in the Southern Cal Prelims.
Jones takes 3rd in WSC shot put; 3 Vaqueros advance to So Cal Prelims

Edward Jones finished third in the WSC shot put final on Friday in the WSC men’s track & field prelims at Bakersfield College. Jones, a sophomore from San Diego, reached 13.69 meters (44 feet, 11 inches).

Vaqueros set 14 season bests in SBCC Easter Open

Alex Ramirez and Charles Perry recorded a pair of season bests on Friday and the SBCC men’s track & field team had 14 season bests in the SBCC Easter Open at La Playa Stadium.

Chris Aichinger set a school record in the pole vault twice at the WSC Coastal Meet. He cleared 4.65 meters to break a 16-year-old mark by .01 meters, then soared 4.83m (15 feet, 10 1/8 inches) to break his new record. (Photo by Scott Fickerson)
Aichinger sets school record in pole vault

Chris Aichinger broke the SBCC school record in the pole vault on Friday and then raised the bar a little higher in the WSC Coastal men’s track and field meet at Cuesta College.

Said-Kamal Webster topped an outstanding field to win the 100 and 200 on Saturday at Westmont.

Said-Kamal Webster won the 100 and 200 against strong competition on Saturday at the Westmont Collegiate Classic men's track and field meet.

Kyle Whitaker, a sophomore from San Marcos High, went a season-high 14 feet, 6 inches to tie for first in the pole vault.
Whitaker, Aichinger, Jones earn wins at AVC Invitational

Kyle Whitaker, Chris Aichinger and Edward Jones won their events on Friday in the Antelope Valley Invitational men’s track and field meet in Lancaster.

Andres Castro placed third in his 100 heat in a season-best 11.62.
Six Vaqueros post season bests at Occidental Spring Break Classic

Edward Jones placed fifth in the discus with a season-best 40.83 meters and five other SBCC athletes set season bests in the Occidental Spring Break Classic track & field meet on Friday in Eagle Rock.

Aichinger, Jones win field events at WSC North Meet

Chris Aichinger and Kyle Whitaker went 1-2 in the pole vault on Friday and Edward Jones topped the shot put field in the WSC North men’s track and field meet at Ventura College.

Said-Kamal Webster, a wide receiver on the football team, placed first in the 200 and second in the 60-meter dash. His 200 time (21.97) is the fastest in the state this season.
Webster gets first and second at Soka Invitational

Said-Kamal Webster sprinted to a first and second on Saturday in the Soka Invitational at Aliso Viejo. The competition featured Community Colleges and a four-year schools like Westmont, Biola, Vanguard, The Master's, Concordia and Soka University.

Jordan Shinn took the 400 hurdles to earn one of seven wins for the Vaqueros.
Seven Vaqueros post wins in season opener at Cuesta

SBCC got wins from seven athletes on Friday in the season-opening Central Coast Invitational men’s track and field meet at Cuesta.
