Keaton Arutian, a starting setter for SBCC in 2015, has received an academic scholarship to play on Cal Lutheran’s new intercollegiate men’s volleyball squad.
Middle blocker To’o To’o and outside hitter Sean Reynaert have been named to the first-team All-Western State Conference men’s volleyball team.
Long Beach swept SBCC 25-18, 25-14, 25-21 in Friday night’s regular-season finale to claim third place in the WSC men’s volleyball standings. The Vikings (13-5, 8-4) earned the third and final playoff berth in the conference.
SBCC survived three set points in set No. 3 on Wednesday night and Taylor McCluskey completed a 3-0 sweep with a kill on the fourth match point for the Vaqueros. The scores were 25-23, 25-21, 31-29. The third set was the highest score of the year for Santa Barbara.
SBCC had a tough time passing in the third and fourth sets on Friday night and dropped a 3-1 men’s volleyball decision to El Camino in Torrance. The scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-16, 25-15.
Erik Andrade pounded a season-high 15 kills and Robert Gulvin added 13 on Wednesday night, leading SBCC to a 25-22, 27-25, 25-17 men’s volleyball sweep at L.A. Trade Tech.
SBCC didn’t play its best volleyball on Wednesday night but the Vaqueros did have a season-high 18 team blocks in a 3-2 victory over L.A. Pierce at the Sports Pavilion. The scores were 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 25-27, 15-10.
Santa Monica rallied past visiting SBCC 3-1 on Friday night to remain unbeaten in WSC men’s volleyball action. The scores were 18-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19.
Sean Reynaert had eight of his season-high 14 kills in the third set on Wednesday night and SBCC played one of its best men’s volleyball matches of the year in a 27-25, 25-23, 25-21 sweep of Long Beach at the Sports Pavilion.
Freshman libero Casey Alper had a season-high 26 digs and SBCC hit .284 on Friday night in a 3-1 men’s volleyball victory at Moorpark. The scores were 25-19, 25-12, 24-26, 25-13.
Five days after hitting a season-high .482, SBCC recorded a season-low .065 on Wednesday night in a 3-0 men’s volleyball loss to El Camino at the Sports Pavilion. The scores were 25-22, 25-20, 26-24.
SBCC hit a season-high .482 on Friday night and cruised past L.A. Trade Tech 25-6, 25-12, 25-11 in a WSC men’s volleyball match at the Sports Pavilion.
Taylor McCluskey had 12 digs and To’o To’o collected 10 kills and eight digs on Friday night, leading SBCC to a 3-1 men’s volleyball win over L.A. Pierce in Woodland Hills. The scores were 20-25, 27-25, 25-20, 25-20.
SBCC erased an 0-2 deficit for the second straight match on Wednesday night at the Sports Pavilion and had a 13-11 lead in the fifth set but couldn’t seal the deal in a 3-2 men’s volleyball loss to Santa Monica in the WSC opener for both teams. The scores were 25-13, 25-20, 22-25, 28-30, 18-16.
SBCC dropped two close sets to Golden West on Friday night, then stormed back for a 3-2 men’s volleyball victory in a nonconference match at Huntington Beach. The scores were 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, 15-11.
Orange Coast jumped ahead 10-4 and 21-8 in the first set on Friday night and went on to sweep SBCC 25-12, 25-21, 25-19 in a men’s volleyball match at Costa Mesa.
