Canyons ends outstanding Vaquero season, 11-7

SBCC got off to another slow start on Saturday, falling behind 7-1 after two innings, and dropped an 11-7 softball decision to Canyons in an elimination game of the Southern Cal Super Regional at Santiago Canyon College.

No. 2 Hawks blank Vaqueros in Super Regional opener

Santiago Canyon erupted for 10 runs in the first inning on Friday and went on to blank SBCC 18-0 in five innings in the Southern Cal Super Regional softball tournament in Orange.

SBCC will battle No. 2 Santiago Canyon (34-7) on the Hawks’ home turf in a first-round game of the Southern Cal Super Regional softball playoffs on Friday in Orange (three miles north of Santa Ana). First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

SBCC topped Grossmont 8-2 in Game 3 on Sunday in El Cajon to capture its Southern Cal Regional softball series 2-1.

Madison McNamee threw a two-hit shutout on Saturday as SBCC opened the Southern Cal Regional softball playoffs with a 5-0 victory at Grossmont.

Vaqueros seeded 9th for South Regional, will travel to No. 8 Grossmont

SBCC was seeded No. 9 for the Southern Regional softball playoffs and will travel to No. 8 Grossmont for a best-of-three series next weekend in El Cajon. Game 1 is Saturday at 3 p.m., Game 2 will be Sunday at noon and Game 3 will follow, if necessary.

Sydney Townes drilled an RBI single to left in the bottom of the fifth on Thursday, giving SBCC a 10-2 walk-off win over Oxnard at Pershing Park.

Olivia Hernandez tossed a 4-0 shutout in the opener of a WSC Gold Division softball doubleheader on Tuesday and Ventura cruised to a 9-1, five-inning win in the nightcap to sweep SBCC.

Bodden, King homer in 8-0 shutout

Lauren Bodden belted a solo home run and Lyndsi King delivered a three-run shot over the center-field fence on Friday, sparking SBCC to an efficient 8-0, five-inning softball win over L.A. Pierce. The game was over in 55 minutes.

Madison McNamee threw a perfect game in the opener and Rebecca Pullen tossed a two-hit shutout in the second game on Tuesday as SBCC swept a WSC Gold softball doubleheader at Oxnard. The scores were 13-0 and 12-0 and both games ended after five innings due to the eight-run rule.

Madison McNamee tossed a three-hitter on Thursday and went 2-4 with three RBIs, including a game-ending double in the sixth that scored Maggie Jo Jackson and gave SBCC a 9-1 softball win over visiting Ventura.
