SBCC had lots of scoring chances in Friday night’s CCCAA State women’s soccer semifinal but Diablo Valley converted two second-half goals to pull out a 2-0 victory at the Ventura Sportsplex.

Katherine Sheehy has been named Athlete of the Week by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table. The award is given to the top female athlete in all sports for the Santa Barbara area that covers UCSB, Westmont, SBCC and the local high schools.

Vaqueros blank No. 2 Hawks 1-0, reach State Final 4 for first time

Katherine Sheehy scored in the 13th minute on a rainy Saturday afternoon and No. 14 SBCC waited out a 40-minute lightning delay to shock No. 2 Santiago Canyon 1-0 in a Southern Cal Regional women’s soccer final in the city of Orange.

Katherine Sheehy scored in the fourth minute on Tuesday night and No. 14 SBCC went on to stun No. 6 Ventura 3-1 in a Southern Cal Regional women’s soccer semifinal at the VC Sportsplex.

Freshman Sarah Vail scored her first goal of the year in the 32nd minute on Saturday night as No. 14 SBCC surprised No. 3 Canyons 1-0 in a first-round Southern Cal Regional women’s soccer playoff game.

Josefine Von Der Burg and Kathryn Sullivan scored two goals each on Thursday night, leading SBCC to a 4-0 women’s soccer shutout of Citrus in a Southern Cal Regional game at La Playa Stadium.

SBCC was seeded 14th for the Southern Cal Regional women’s soccer playoffs and will host No. 19 Citrus on Thursday in the opening round at 7 p.m.

After seven Vaquero sophomores were honored with their friends and families, they went out and stunned first-place Moorpark 2-1.

SBCC ended the regular season in style on Friday night by stunning first-place Moorpark 2-1 in a come-from-behind women’s soccer triumph at La Playa Stadium.

Ventura scored three goals in a 17-minute span of the first half on Friday night and then held off a furious second-half onslaught to edge SBCC 3-2 in a WSC North women’s soccer match at La Playa Stadium.

Blayne Shoffit and Josefine Von Der Burg scored first-half goals on Tuesday and SBCC went on to record a 3-0 women’s soccer shutout of Oxnard at La Playa Stadium.

Hancock scored the only goal of the second half in the 65th minute on Friday to forge a 2-2 tie with visiting SBCC in a WSC North women’s soccer match at Santa Maria.
