Kathryn Rucker finished fifth in the women’s high jump on Saturday in the 64th CCCAA State Track and Field Championships at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

SBCC’s Kathryn Rucker set a new school record in the high jump on Saturday and Nicole Bartlett took sixth in the 1500 at the Southern Cal Women’s Track & Field Championships.

Kathryn Rucker took second in the high jump on Friday with her second-highest clearance of the season in the WSC Women’s Track & Field Championships at Antelope Valley in Lancaster.

Bartlett nets third and fifth at WSC Prelims

SBCC’s Nicole Bartlett finished third and fifth in the 1500 and 800, respectively, on Friday in the WSC Prelims for women’s track and field at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.

SBCC sophomore Nicole Bartlett recorded personal records in the 800 and 1500-meter races on Friday at the Orange Coast Classic women’s track and field meet in Costa Mesa.

Freshman Jessica Escalante has been named female Athlete of the Week by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table. The award goes to the top performance from all the local high schools and colleges.

Jessica Escalante won two races and ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 100 relay on Friday, helping SBCC to third place in the WSC Coastal women’s track and field meet at Cuesta in San Luis Obispo.

Bartlett wins twice at Easter Relays

SBCC’s Nicole Bartlett placed first in the community college 1500 (4:49.79) and 800 (2:26.31) on Friday as SBCC’s women posted 12 track and field season bests in the 76th Easter Relays at La Playa Stadium.

Jessica Escalante got in the SBCC Top 10 list in the 100, 200 and javelin.
Vaqueros post 12 season bests in two meets

Jessica Escalante recorded 2 fourths and a fifth in the prestigious Ben Brown Invitational women’s track and field meet on Saturday at Cal State Fullerton. The meet featured many of the top two-year programs in Southern Cal as well as four-year schools like USC, CS Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Azusa Pacific, Vanguard and Cal Poly Pomona.

Jessica Escalante piled up 22 points on Friday and Christina Khalil added 18 as SBCC took fourth in the WSC North women’s track and field meet at Bakersfield College.

Christina Khalil captured the 100 hurdles on Friday and SBCC recorded five runner-up finishes in the WSC Relays.

Rucker wins high jump with No. 2 school mark
Rucker wins high jump with No. 2 school mark

Kathryn Rucker captured the women’s high jump on Saturday as SBCC opened its women’s track season at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet. Rucker, a sophomore from Sacramento who was seventh in the state last year, cleared 1.68 meters (5 feet, 6 inches) for the second-best mark in school history.

2013 Women's Track wins State Scholar Award

The 2013 SBCC Men's Volleyball and Women's Track & Field squads have been selected as Scholar Team award winners by the California Community College Athletic Association. Men’s Volleyball compiled a 3.58 grade-point average and Women’s Track posted a 3.43. Teams must have at least a 3.0 GPA to qualify for the award.
