Kathryn Rucker finished fifth in the women’s high jump on Saturday in the 64th CCCAA State Track and Field Championships at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Jessica Escalante recorded 2 fourths and a fifth in the prestigious Ben Brown Invitational women’s track and field meet on Saturday at Cal State Fullerton. The meet featured many of the top two-year programs in Southern Cal as well as four-year schools like USC, CS Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Azusa Pacific, Vanguard and Cal Poly Pomona.
Jessica Escalante piled up 22 points on Friday and Christina Khalil added 18 as SBCC took fourth in the WSC North women’s track and field meet at Bakersfield College.
Christina Khalil captured the 100 hurdles on Friday and SBCC recorded five runner-up finishes in the WSC Relays.
Kathryn Rucker captured the women’s high jump on Saturday as SBCC opened its women’s track season at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet. Rucker, a sophomore from Sacramento who was seventh in the state last year, cleared 1.68 meters (5 feet, 6 inches) for the second-best mark in school history.
The 2013 SBCC Men's Volleyball and Women's Track & Field squads have been selected as Scholar Team award winners by the California Community College Athletic Association. Men’s Volleyball compiled a 3.58 grade-point average and Women’s Track posted a 3.43. Teams must have at least a 3.0 GPA to qualify for the award.
