Nelson makes So Cal Finals in hammer

SBCC freshman Maya Nelson took ninth in the women’s hammer on Saturday and qualified for the Southern Cal Track & Field Finals on a windy day at Antelope Valley College.

Maya Nelson won the WSC hammer title with a 42.63 meter heave that's the No. 2 mark in school history.

Yuliana Garibay placed second in the 3000 steeplechase on Thursday, leading the SBCC women’s track team against a talented field at the Cal State L.A. Twilight Open.

Maya Nelson won the hammer with the third-best toss in school history of 39.39 meters (129 feet, 2 3/4 inches). She ws also third in the discus, fourth in the shot put and fifth in the javelin.

Arnold, Stevens sprint to victory in 78th Easter Relays

Hannah Arnold and Nicole Stevens captured the 100 and 400 meters on Friday in the 78th annual Easter Relays, hosted by SBCC at La Playa Stadium.

Yuliana Garibay took fifth in the 800 and ninth in the 1500 in season-best times, competing against four-year schools at the Westmont Collegiate Classic.
Arnold takes 100 in Westmont Collegiate Classic

Hannah Arnold tied for first in the 100 meters and took third in the 200 on Saturday at the Westmont Collegiate Classic women’s track and field meet.

Hannah Arnold placed fourth out of 42 runners in the 100 meters at the Occidental Distance Carnival.

Maya Nelson recorded season bests in the hammer, shot put and discus on Friday, leading the SBCC women’s track and field team in the WSC North Meet at Memorial Stadium in Bakersfield.
