SBCC women’s volleyball coach Ed Gover announced his retirement on Tuesday after an outstanding 28-year career that started in 1991.

Grace Trocki had a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs on Friday night but SBCC came up short in a 3-1 women’s volleyball loss at Cuesta. The scores were 25-17, 25-22, 15-25, 25-19.

Middle hitters, 12 aces propel Vaqueros to 3-0 sweep

SBCC’s middle hitters combined for 14 kills and four solo blocks on Wednesday and the Vaqueros served 12 aces in a 25-18, 25-14, 25-16 sweep of Hancock at the Sports Pavilion.

No. 22 Ventura rallies past Vaqueros 3-1

SBCC took the first set 25-16 on Friday night, then No. 22 Ventura claimed the last three sets to post a 3-1 women's volleyball victory and remain undefeated in WSC North action. The scores were 16-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-13.

Kate Richardson recorded 12 kills and a .391 hitting percentage and Kenzie Garrison had a double-double on Wednesday night as SBCC posted its second straight women’s volleyball sweep with a 25-16, 26-24, 25-15 victory at L.A. Pierce.

SBCC hit .347 on Friday night in a 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 sweep at Citrus. The Vaqueros (5-10) tied their season low with seven hitting errors.

Kate Richardson led a balanced attack with seven kills on Friday night and SBCC swept Hancock 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 in a WSC North women’s volleyball match in Santa Maria.

Ventura edges Vaqueros in close 5-setter

Ventura outlasted SBCC 3-2 on Wednesday night in a WSC North women’s volleyball opener at the Sports Pavilion. The scores were 25-19, 19-25, 26-24, 17-25, 15-9.

Vaqueros drop tight 5-setter at Mt. SAC

SBCC dropped a pair of volleyball matches on Saturday in the Mt. SAC Invitational. The Vaqueros were swept by No. 24 Desert 3-0 and lost a close 5-set decision to the host, Mt. San Antonio.

No. 9 Canyons topples Vaqueros 3-0

Shayla Johnson collected 15 kills and 16 digs on Wednesday night, leading No. 9 Canyons to a 3-0 women’s volleyball win over SBCC. The scores were 25-14, 25-11, 25-16.

No. 5 Grossmont sweeps Vaqueros

Grossmont, ranked fifth in the state, outlasted SBCC in the third set to complete a 3-0 women’s volleyball win on Saturday at the Sports Pavilion. The scores were 25-15, 25-19, 27-25.

Vaqueros ace their way to first two wins

SBCC piled up 33 aces on Saturday and registered its first two women’s volleyball wins in its own quad tournament. The Vaqueros beat Cerritos 3-1 (25-14, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17) and cruised past Contra Costa 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-6) in 55 minutes.
