SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Joseph Cateralli and James Walker-Ziegler each recorded 11 kills to lead Santa Barbara City College to a 3-1 victory over Moorpark College on Wednesday.
The Vaqueros outlasted the Raiders in the first set, 27-25. Tom Altankhuyag led SBCC with 10 while Rocky Steinert added nine of his own.
Taking the second set 25-20, the Vaqueros recorded 15 kills, nearly twice as many as Moorpark's eight kills.
The Raiders charged back in the third set, with an emphatic 25-15 win before Santa Barbara sealed the match with a 25-19 score in the fourth and final set.
Rocky Brazier led the Vaqueros with 36 assists while chipping in six digs and an ace. Walker-Ziegler added four digs and two blocks.
Santa Barbara improved to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the Western State Conference, and will look for their seventh win in eight games Friday at Antelope Valley.
