Cameron Shinn and Anton Nilsson of SBCC finished ninth on Saturday against some of the top athletes in the nation in the CCCAA Men’s Track & Field State Championships at San Diego Mesa College.

Apodaca wins 5000 at Cal State L.A. Twilight Open

Bradley Apodaca captured the 5000 in a season-best 15:42.68 on Thursday and seven teammates also recorded season bests in the toughest meet of the season at the Cal State L.A. Twilight Open.

Anton Nilsson won his fourth 400 intermediate hurdles race by an impressive 5.46 seconds.
Jones, Tapia go 1-2 in discus at WSC Coastal Meet

Edward Jones and Diego Tapia took the top two spots in the discus on Friday and SBCC placed fourth in the WSC Coastal men’s track and field meet at Cuesta in San Luis Obispo.

Colin Dunbar, a former Vaquero athlete in 2007, broke a 53-year-old Easter Relays record with his hammer toss of 67.45 meters (221 feet, 3 inches).
Ramirez, Nilsson notch wins at Easter Relays

Alex Ramirez captured the 1500 meters for SBCC on Friday in the 78th Easter Relays and Anton Nilsson recorded his third win of the year in the 400 hurdles at La Playa Stadium.

Joey Ochoa, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High, took second in the shot put and discus with season bests of 13.36 and 39.65 meters.
Nilsson wins 400 hurdles at Westmont Collegiate Classic

SBCC’s Anton Nilsson cruised to victory in the 400 hurdles on Saturday at the Westmont Collegiate Classic men’s track and field meet.

Roberson, Tapia post ninths in Occidental Distance Carnival

Robert Roberson and Diego Tapia placed ninth in the long jump and hammer, respectively, on Friday in a crowded field at the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic men’s track and field meet in Eagle Rock.

Anton Nilsson, a freshman from Sweden, won the 400 hurdles in 54.05, the No. 6 time in school history.
Nilsson captures 400 hurdles in WSC North Meet

Anton Nilsson won the 400 hurdles and took third in the 100 meters on Friday to pace the SBCC men’s track and field team in the WSC North Meet at Bakersfield. The meet featured athletes from SBCC, Bakersfield, Cuesta, Canyons and Hancock.

Max Schrock won the javelin and placed fifth in the pole vault on Friday to highlight SBCC’s day in the WSC Relays at Ventura College.

SBCC’s Alex Ramirez and Adam Grimmitt took the top two spots in the mile on Saturday in the Soka University Invitational at Aliso Viejo.

Freshman Anton Nilsson took first in the 200 and 600 meters, beating runners from four-year schools at the Sunshine Invitational.

Anton Nilsson captured the 200 and 600 meter races on Saturday for SBCC, which opened its men’s track & field season in the Sunshine Invitational at Westmont College.
