Bio

High School: Attended Royal High and played in Marmonte League under coach Devin Hurst.  She was a four-year varsity player and was awarded MVP her freshman, sophomore and senior years. Also in her senior year, she was awarded most inspirational and goalie of the year. Throughout her four years at Royal, she made a total of 919 saves. In 2015, her team won CIF in Division 4, becoming the first Girls Water Polo team at Royal to earn the title of CIF champions. During her off-season, Mackenzie played for Los Angeles Water Polo Club from 2009 to 2011 and Simi Water Polo Club in 2012.

Personal: Mackenzie Richards was born on December 5, 1996 in Palmdale, Calif. Shortly after her birth, she moved to Simi Valley. Growing up, she wanted to accomplish everything that came her way, but one thing that was always questioned in her mind was how machines and cars worked and operated.  In 6th grade, she began playing water polo and fell in love with the sport. Before tournaments, she has her music blasting to focus and to get her mind in the game. She is adventurous and enjoys seeing what the world has in store for her. In her free time, she loves to surf and skateboard. She is also a strong believer that hard work will pay off in the end.

2015: Starting goalie for WSC champion Vaqueros and named Player of the Year in Western State Conference. She also earned All-Regional and first-team All-American honors after allowing just 5.4 goals in conference for the Vaqueros, who finished 8-1 in WSC play and 20-13 overall. Averaged 13.5 saves in four playoff games.
